|
Monticello will acknowledge
it's Past & Present on Saturday, May 13, 2000. At 2 p.m.
Apple Blossom Awards will be presented to those who have contributed to
the beauty of our village during the past year.
Immediately following the Apple Blossom award ceremony the Marker will be dedicated. Following the dedication ceremony refreshments will be served by the Monticello Area Historical Society and the MBPA Apple Blossom Committee. The Monticello Past & Present celebration will take place at the MONTICELLO marker located in front of Lake Montesian on State Highway #69. Parking will be available on Lake Ave. just north of the marker and in the village parking lot just off Lake Ave. on N. Main St. Parking is prohibited on State Highway #69, however, passengers may be dropped off at the site. The development of the Gerber marker has been a three year project of the Monticello Area Historical Society. Contributions for many generous donors were secured through the efforts of life long area resident Ralph Hammerly. It was Hammerly who brought this project to the attention of MAHS. Although, two previous markers were installed in the 1930's at the sites of two of Gerber's cheese factories time and progress have made them oblivious to the public. The purpose of this new marker is to acknowledge the industry that has made Green County Wisconsin famous throughout the world. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the celebration of Monticello's Past & Present. |
