CAMPBELL, he was born 29 Nov 1907 in Gratiot. He married Hazel SCHMIDT
7 Aug 1937 in Gratiot...farmed in the Gratiot area, retiring in 1978...was
a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Gratiot, and the Pecatonica Bit
& Spur Club, Darlington. Survivors include his wife; a brother,
Cecil (Ned), Gratiot; and two sisters, Annette SCHNEIDER of Warren and
Mrs Jack (Evelyn) WILLIAMS of Lena...was preceded in death by a brother.

Mary Roberts CARLE passed
away from this world into that of the beyond on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1901
at the home of her son, J.F. Carle, 155 Glen Street, Janesville, after
nearly three months’ illness. She has always been a strong, active
woman until eleven weeks ago, since when she has been confined to her bed.
Hers was a strong Christian character, having been an active member of
the Baptist Church since she was twenty years of age. Deceased was
born March 16, 1814 in the county of York, Maine and was married to B.F.
Carle Jan. 16, 1844, who preceded her to his heavenly home five years ago
on June 26, 1896. Six children were born to them, Mrs. Susan Alverson,
Janesville, Mrs. Sarah Talmage, deceased, J.F. Carle, Janesville, Mrs.
Addie Trip, Covina Caifornia, Mrs. Ella Brown, Hampton, Iowa and G. F.
Carle, deceased. The family went to Janesville in December, 1856,
moved to Brooklyn, Green County in 1861 and from there to Juda in 1872
and to Albany in 1880, where her husband departed this world. Mrs.
Carle went again to Janesville last November with her son and family, with
whom she has resided since her husband’s death. Brief services were
held at her late home in Janesville Thursday morning, after which the remains
were brought to Albany and services held at two o’clock in the Baptist
Church, conducted by Rev. Jos. Mountain of Pewaukee. The funeral
was largely attended by sorrowing friends of the family. Mrs. Tripp
was the only one of the living children unable to be at the funeral.

Died: Mary Catharine CHAMBERLAIN
was born in Vienna, Trumbull Co., Ohio May 19, 1838 and died in Albany,
Wisconsin May 16, 1898 aged 60 years. She came to Wisconsin with
her parents in 1845. They lived in the town of Monroe two years,
then spent a year in Walworth County and a year in Rock County, returning
to Green County and settled in the town of Mt. Pleasant. She was
married to Samuel Truax Nov. 28, 1888. Mr. Truax died Feb. 14, 1889
and on the 2nd of August, 1901 she was married to L.W. Briggs, who survives
her. Mrs. Briggs has lived an exemplary, Christian life. She
was of a retiring nature, not possessed of the gift of making many friends,
but enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew her. The funeral
was held at the M.E. Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. N.J. Davis of Evansville
conducting the services.

James Fowler CHAPMAN
Many of our readers will remember James
Fowler Chapman, who was a pioneer resident of Albany. Mr. Chapman
enlisted here in 1860 and was made a major, afterwards being promoted to
the office of lieutenant colonel. The Sandusky, Ohio Register of
the 10th inst. notes his death, which occurred September 30, at the age
of 84 years.

Son of Mr. And Mrs. Frank CHASE
The eight-year old son of Mr. And
Mrs. Frank Chase, who live about four miles northeast of Albany, died Sunday
morning of scarlet fever. The remains were interred as quickly as
a coffin could be obtained. The stricken parents have but one other
child, a baby a few weeks old, and Mrs. Chase is dying of consumption.
The family has the deep sympathy of all.

Daughter of John D. & Augustina (KRUEGER) FRITSCH. Attended Clarno
School. 28 Jan 1919 married Roy E. CHESEBRO in the FRITSCH home.
He died 18 Oct 1985. She worked for many years as a telephone operator.
Member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star. Past
president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Past chief of the Pythian
Sisters. Member of the AARP. Survivors include one son, Glenn
of Fayetteville, Arkansas, & one daughter, Mrs Lloyd (Evelyn) MARTY,
Monroe; one sister, Edith WENGER, Monroe; six grandchildren & 11 great
grandchildren.
Preceded in death by seven brothers,
George in infancy, John, Edward, William, Emil, Albert & Frank, &
two sisters, Lydia MILLER & Mabel STELZER. Funeral Sat 7 June 1986
at the Stuessy Funeral Home. Rev Lawrence GOEBEL of
the Methodist Church officiating.

was a meat cutter in the Blanchardville area. In 1966 he & his
wife moved to Blanchardville, and he then worked at Skaife's Market until
retirement...was a member of the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Surviving are four sons, Dennis of Mount Horeb, Terrance of Middleton,
and Michael & James, both of Blanchardville; two daughters, Mrs Lawrence

Mrs. Delilah Neal CLEMMER,
aged 82 years, 3 months and 8 days, died at the residence of one of her
sons, Dr. J.J. Clemmer, in Cresco, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1887. J.A. Clemmer
of this place, was also with his mother at the time of her death, having
been summoned there some time previous, where he remained to help care
for her until she passed the river of death, in the full triumph of her
faith in Christ, of whom she has been a faithful follower in the Baptist
Church for about sixty years. Mr. J.A. Clemmer brought his mother’s
remains to Juda for interment, in the family lot by the side of her husband,
who preceded her to the grave only two years ago. The funeral was
held at the Baptist Church in Juda Sunday, Christmas day, attended by mourning
relatives and a large concourse of sympathizing friends. An appropriate
sermon was preached by Rev. B.L. Prescott. The deceased was married
Oct. 13, 1825 to James Clemmer and with their family they moved to Wisconsin
in 1849, and settled on a farm in the town of Sylvester now occupied by
their daughter and her husband, Mr. And Mrs. Christ. Five sons and
one daughter were born to them, all of whom are now living except James
W., the second son. She was the grandmother of 32 children, and the
great grandmother of 45. Mrs. Clemmer will long be remembered by
her old neighbors for her uniform kindness and religious devotion.

Nettie CLEVELAND
Miss Nettie Cleveland died at her home
in Albany early Sunday morning, Feb. 17, 1901 after three weeks’ illness.
She was born in Beloit, Wis., Sept. 23, 1877 and was just entering the
prime of life when the Death Angel appeared. She leaves a father,
four sisters and a large number of friends to mourn their loss. The
funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 19, Elder E.P. Graves
officiating and the remains interred in the Attica cemetery.

Augustus COLLINS
Augustus Collins, for many years a resident
of Sylvester, died at this home in Juda on the 16th inst. aged 68.
He had been in poor health for some time and an attack of pneumonia proved
too much for his enfeebled system. His wife, one daughter and two
sons survive him. The funeral was held Saturday.

Lewis COMSTOCK
Surnames: Comstock, Kelly
Died: Lewis Comstock was found
dead in his bed by his granddaughter, Miss Grace Kelly, when she came from
her work in the linen mills at noon yesterday. He has been ailing
for some time but was able to be about. Death was no doubt due to
heart failure. Mrs. Comstock has been at Plover, Iowa on a visit
for several days and as it is not certain when she can get home no time
has been set for the funeral.

Mrs. Jos. Croak (nee Bertha
Howard) died at the residence of her mother, Mrs. Henry Howard in this
city, yesterday about noon. Death resulted from slow consumption,
following an attack of La Grippe. She was about 21 years old.
The sympathy of all goes out to the afflicted husband, mother, brothers
and sisters.
