Knitting Designs by Meg Swansen

Artist's Statement

"Knitting permeates nearly every aspect of my life.  I particularly enjoy knitting traditional color-patterns, as each round of each motif has its own particular  'song' and the repeated rhythm is most soothing and comforting.  On the other hand, picture-knitting (Weeping Sun) is the reverse.  No two rounds are the same and it is invigorating and exciting to see the image emerge from your needles."

Meg signs off on her Wool Gathering publication (2 times each year) with "Good Knitting".  She has provided the knitting world with the opportunity to do just that.

Yes, knitting permeates nearly every aspect of her life. as designer, teacher, author, publisher, retailer, mentor, camp/retreat leader, DVD and VHF "star", model, columnist, editor,

Techniques of interest to knitters are the jogless job, purl when you can, knitting in the round, no seam garments,  i-cord updates, and the ever present urging by Meg for you to use your  "knitter's choice".

It is an honor to call her "friend".

Although none of Meg Swansen's displayed knitting is for sale, some of Schoolhouse Press books, patterns, videos, DVD's, and VHF's are available for sale here at The Dining Room at 209 Main in Monticello, WI.

For a vast listing of items available from Schoolhouse Press (Meg's business), see www.schoolhousepress.com.  You will be able to appreciate the extensive talent for the family-based multigenerational business.

Note:  A previous exhibit of Elizabeth Zimmermann's designs can be viewed as you scroll down past this current exhibit to the past  exhibit titles.  As most knitters know, EZ was Meg's mother.  Our permanent installation of the prototype of EZ's epaulet sweater may be seen as you enter the restaurant, The Dining Room at 209 Main in Monticello, WI.  www.209main.com
